A big thanks to the wonderful writer F.C.Malby for inviting me to be a guest writer on her blog to write about why I set up the online creative writing school www.writingclasses.co.uk in the post “Let me tell you about the creative writing gene …”
F.C.Malby is the author of Let Me Take You To The Castle, which was released in December 2012 and has been nominated for The People’s Book Awards. A short story The Bench was published in March 2013 and her short fiction has been longlisted in The
New Writer Annual Prose and Poetry Prize.
I have just started reading Let Me Take You To The Castle and am gripped already! It is set in Prague and Letovice and “is a tale of deception, distrust and the need for redemption in the aftermath of a regime in which no one can be trusted, not even someone you thought you knew.” I’ll let you know what I think when I finish but so far so very good 🙂
Meanwhile, do check out Fiona’s blog, it’s full of all sorts of useful information to do with writing and books – oh yes, and I’ve written about why I set up www.writingclasses.co.uk …. http://fcmalby.wordpress.com/
Just read your guest post, Marianne. I have got F. C. Malby’s book ‘Take Me to the Castle’ but haven’t read it yet. Will be interested to know what you think of it.
Will do 🙂
I’ve just bought it so I will read it eventually. I have 2 weeks and a day off from Friday so I may get a lot of reading done in these holidays I hope.
Have a great break and enjoy Take Me To The Castle – have just started reading it and am enjoying it so far 🙂
Its always nice to come across a good book. I’m currently reading ‘The Bubble Gum Thief’ which is good so far but with doing the doodle a day challenge and letter writing its a slow process to fit that in too. Still they are all things I love :).
You sound really busy, and this is you on holiday, yes ;o)
Thanks for the Bubble Gum Thief – will check it out (sounds a bit daft and different!)
Thanks Marianne, I just read your guest post and really enjoyed it.
Really enjoyed your post Marianne, and will try and read ‘Take me to the Castle’ as well!
Thanks so much to you too, Ruth 🙂 I am halfway through Take Me To The Castle and enjoying it – and I didn’t realise but it has some shared themes with The Blue Suitcase!
Awe, thanks, Kendra 🙂
