If you’ve been following this blog, you’ll know that last week I visited Stockbridge Library and chatted to the Stockbridge library book groups about The Blue Suitcase and my new novel Food of Ghosts. It was a lovely evening. What you may not know, however, is that the visit is one of a number of author visits I’m doing at Edinburgh Libraries over the next month or so. My second library visit was last Thursday and I went to Ratho Library. What can I say? The Ratho book group ladies certainly know how to enjoy themselves. There was fish and chips and caramel wafers and wine – this is my kind of library and I so want to join this book group! What a brilliant audience, what great questions and what a lovely evening. A big thanks to Ratho Library and the book group ladies for making me feel so welcome :o)
On Tuesday the 9th I’m visiting McDonald Road Library. If you are in the area and want to find out about the inspiration behind The Blue Suitcase, or about my debut crime novel, Food of Ghosts, do come along. It’s free but you do need to contact the library to book your place.

All of these library readings sound really good, Marianne! Entertaining and educational, and snacks to boot! Wish I lived in the area so I could attend…
it was a lovely evening. Edinburgh Libraries do so much, we’re really spoiled!
Hi Marianne
That library book club sound fun!
Kind Regards
Katie.
Hi Katie, it is. A great bunch if women, who knew a lot about books. I think I remember you saying you were in a book club, yes? If so, do you meet in a library or in someone’s house?
Cheers 🙂
Hi Marianne.
I used to be, we used to meet up in our library and have a book to natter about month, it was fun I got to read books I wouldn’t nominally pick and expand my mind more.
we didn’t get food unless we brought our own!!
Have you ever thought of starting a book club forum for your course members I was thinking this today when reading coffee corner
How we all share book ideas if we picked one of the books a month and all read it and then nattered about it might be fun.
Just a thought!!
Kind Regards.
Katie.
Hi Katie, i think this is a great idea and do-able!
Do you want to suggest in the cafe corner, since it is your idea, and we’ll see if anyone else is interested? Or I can suggest it, if you’d rather?
Hi Marianne
I think it would be great and def do able to, you suggest it. And if it go ahead I will def be joining as book clubs do really open your mind and its always nice to talk to people that share a love of books.
Kind Regards.
Katie 🙂
will do! 🙂
yaya 🙂
If only more libraries were so inviting- I suppose it helps if you have 2 great books to talk about!
Yes, the Edinburgh Libraries do so many different things to encourage readers of all ages and they’re also very supportive of local writers – and thanks for the comment about the 2 great books ;o)
Glad to hear the readings are going well, I like those Tunnocks creations too
Thanks, Juliet. Yes, the Tunnocks creations are good fun, couldn’t resist them ;o)
