“All Made Up” is Scottish book of the year!

Janice Galloway’s “All Made Up” has won the Scottish book of the year (and £30,000!). Jen Bowden of the Guardian newspaper describes the book as an anti-memoir and a “brilliant account of teenage love affairs with boys, music and latin.”  I was lucky enough to interview Janice Galloway last week –  see my post a head full of stuff . In the interview she said about writing:

“The courage in writing for me is not something I think about. I started writing because my head was full of stuff. I started writing to get the stuff out of my head. I don’t think I was courageous. I acted not so much out of courage as out of desperation.”

I  am glad Janice was desperate. A great writer and a well deserved winner! Go read! 🙂

  1. A well deserved prize and a memoir wins the prize for the second time in two years, which I find interesting!
