Yes, on a sunny day Leith is a really interesting place to wander and it's incredible to think just how busy and bustling it used to be not so long ago. As for Trinity House, it's like something caught in time. The house was bequeathed to Historic Scotland by the Master Mariners on the condition that the displays remain exactly as set-out, and nothing can be added or taken away - everything has been photographed and when items are cleaned they have to be replaced exactly as before etc. It's quite incredible! Brought a tear to my eye, feeling homesick! Also, great point about the many writers who suffered from depression -- AND the fact that depression did NOT make them write better. I am so sick of hearing how mental illness and creativity are connected, and then people make assumptions about how one cannot exist without the other! Excellent post, Marianne!
